Book Reviews: Flowers Chic & Cheap and Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces

The wonderful people at Clarkson Potter recently sent me two of their newest releases, Flowers Chic & Cheap by Carlos Mota and Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan. I was so pleased with both books and found them to be rather refreshing.

First up, Flowers Chic & Cheap. The book was written by Carlos Mota, Editor-at-Large of ELLE DECOR with photography by William Waldron, contribution from Domino’s Rita Konig, and a foreword by Margaret Russell. Knowing such a level of talent was involved in creating this book was enough to make me want to delve right into it! Not only does this lovely book feature a plethora of beautiful arrangements in every variety you could possibly imagine, it also includes many helpful tips and “recipes” for arranging flowers. Flowers Chic & Cheap book really does feature some ingenious ideas for creating arrangements that look ultra posh without costing a lot of money.

Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces is a handy little manual filled with tips intended for smaller homes, but they could certainly be applied to spaces of any size. The book is divided into several sections ranging from “Cozy Living Rooms” to “Petite Children’s Rooms”. Each of the sections features tips for making the most of each space as well as a multitude of inspiring images. It is a must-read for fans of Apartment Therapy!

This is certainly an exciting time on Apartment Therapy, as their annual Small, Cool Spaces Contest is currently underway. Be sure to stop by and vote for your favorite space.
